Kenmin Foods Brings Frozen Vermicelli to Osaka Stations

Kenmin Foods Co., Ltd. launched a new frozen vermicelli vending machine at Momoyamadai Station on the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Railway. This new installation is part of Kenmin Foods’ strategy to make their popular vermicelli and chapchae more accessible to busy commuters and families in the area.

Expanding the Reach: More Locations Across Japan

Kenmin Foods, headquartered in Kobe, now has 22 vending machines spread across seven locations, including Hyogo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka, Shizuoka, Tokyo, and Kanagawa. These vending machines offer a variety of ready-to-eat meals that can be heated in the microwave, making it easy for people to enjoy a quick and tasty meal at any time.

Why Momoyamadai Station?

Momoyamadai Station is a strategic choice due to its high foot traffic. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism’s data, Momoyamadai Station is the second busiest station on the Kita-Osaka Kyuko line, averaging 33,652 daily passengers. The station’s proximity to major areas like Shin-Osaka (11 minutes) and Umeda (17 minutes) makes it a convenient spot for commuters.

Appealing to Families and Busy Commuters

Momoyamadai is a residential area known for its family-friendly environment. It has new apartment buildings and easy access to parks, schools, and shopping areas. The vending machines are strategically placed outside the station gates, making it easy for busy parents and commuters to grab a quick meal on their way home or while running errands.

What’s on the Menu?

The vending machines offer a variety of delicious frozen meals, all priced at 700 yen for two servings:

  • Fried Vermicelli with Cod Roe and Mustard Greens: A flavorful dish with a spicy kick.
  • Korean-style Stir-fried Vermicelli Chapchae: Made with beef and vegetables, seasoned with gochujang, oyster sauce, and sesame oil.
  • Curry Vermicelli and Mapo Vermicelli: Other mouth-watering options to try.

Kenmin Foods: A Tradition of Quality and Innovation

Founded in 1950 in Kobe, Kenmin Foods holds about 50% of the domestic vermicelli market. The company’s name reflects its mission: “Ken” for health and “Min” for the people. In addition to vermicelli, they produce rice-based foods like pho, rice pasta, and rice paper. Recently, they’ve tapped into the gluten-free market, developing authentic gluten-free Chinese noodles, ramen, and yakisoba.

Kenmin Foods continues to innovate and expand, making convenient and healthy meals accessible to more people across Japan. Enjoying a hot, delicious meal with these vending machines has never been easier.
