Cool Down This Summer at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya’s “HIBIYA MID SUMMER 2024”

Enjoy a Refreshing and Eco-Friendly Summer Event

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is hosting “HIBIYA MID SUMMER 2024” from July 22 to September 1, 2024. This event offers fun, eco-friendly ways to stay cool during the hot summer months with various activities and attractions.

Event Highlights

KAZAGURUMA GARDEN

The event’s centerpiece is the “KAZAGURUMA GARDEN” at Hibiya Step Plaza, featuring around 1,000 colorful pinwheels arranged in a dome shape. Some pinwheels are made from recycled clear files collected from office tenants, promoting eco-friendliness. The garden also includes misting systems at the entrance and inside the dome to provide a refreshing experience both visually and physically. This picturesque setting is perfect for photo opportunities, especially for those wearing yukata.

At night, the dome will be illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. Coordinated lighting will also enhance the visual spectacle in the Grand Staircase area.

Hibiya Oh! MATSURI Stage

During the weekends of the Obon period in August, the “Hibiya Oh! MATSURI Stage” will feature traditional performances from across Japan, including:

  • Awa Odori from Tokushima
  • Eisa from Okinawa
  • YOSAKOI Soran from Hokkaido

These performances will bring the vibrant atmosphere of Japan’s summer festivals to Hibiya.

MID-SUMMER KIDS WORKSHOP

The “MID SUMMER KIDS WORKSHOP” will allow children to engage in hands-on activities, perfect for summer homework projects. Workshops will include creating original pinwheels from recycled clear files, fostering an appreciation for traditional Japanese culture and environmental sustainability.
